Institute of Hotel Management
The Goldfinch Institute of hotel management was set up in 2005 and is a year old. Our first batch of students are presently in their second term and will be going for a 6 month Internship in premium 5 star hotels from July 2007.

The hotel industry is growing exponentially and the world is an oyster for students of a hospitality management school. Students who have successfully graduated from a hospitality management school are presently gainfully employed in hotels, resorts, restaurants, KPO’s, airline industry and the retail industry, among others. Customer service departments and marketing department companies are looking for hospitality professionals.
Courses on offer
Goldfinch group of institutions runs the following courses at its campus in Kodigehalli, Near Hebbal, Bangalore.
3 Yr Degree in Hotel Management
The degree is awarded by a national university. Eligibility requirement is a 12 std from a recognized university with good communication skills.
2 Yr Hospitality Management Diploma
This program is conducted in association with the American Hotel and Lodging Association and this international certification is given to the student directly from the USA. A 10 std pass is the eligibility for the program.
1 yr Diploma in Food Production (Kitchen) & 1 yr Diploma in Food and Beverage Service
These job oriented courses are conducted under the direct supervision of a national university. The course consists of specialized work in the particular department. The course also includes a 3 month internship in a restaurant or a hotel of the students choice.
The GIHM offers a guaranteed placement for students who have successfully completed the above course. A letter will be given to the student during the first three months of the program and the college will ensure that the student is put for placement interviews and is successfully placed. If not, the Goldfinch group will absorb the student.
1 yr Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Hospital food service
A specialized job oriented program for students interested in a career in dietetics. Career opportunities include work in hospitals, hotels, health centers, health clubs and industrial catering units.
A student must be a graduate in science with biology/chemistry/bio chemistry as one of the main subjects.

Infrastructure
The college boasts of 3 fully equipped classrooms. Common facilities include an LCD projector and computers.
A state of the art 12 work station kitchen lab is in operation. Attached to the lab is a 32 cover restaurant with a mock bar attached. These two labs take care of practical classes. Front office and housekeeping classes are taken live in our star classified boutique and in the college campus.
The Goldfinch group operates a 4 star boutique hotel in Bangalore. In addition to the practical classes, our students are sent to the hotel for practical training in Housekeeping and Front Office.
The institute has a fully functional library and a computer lab for student use.
Hostels
The institute has three hostels very close to the campus (2 minutes walking distance). The Separate buildings for ladies and gentlemen have all basic boarding and lodging facilities. The menu includes both north Indian and south Indian dishes. The hostel is self sufficient in all respects.
Counseling
Student counseling is part of the academic structure of the institute. Each student is put under a faculty in the institute who takes care of the overall development of the student. This faculty member is also a one point contact for the parent. This faculty will be a sounding board for the student for not just academics but for his/her overall well-being and for out of institute guidance on all matters.
Placements
The students at the institute are being sent for internships to all the leading 5 star deluxe hotels in Bangalore. The institute has tie ups with various hotels across the country and students are guaranteed internship in a star classified hotel in their city of choice.
During their studies, as part of their learning, the students are given the opportunity to do short work stints in hotels. This will also take care of their pocket money requirements during their stay here.
The hotel has an exclusive arrangement whereby students can opt for doing his/her training abroad in a country of their choice. The college will facilitate this process.
Higher Studies
The institute is already in talks with two foreign universities for a tie up. This would enable a student studying here to continue his/her course abroad based on the criteria stipulated by the Foreign university. This agreement will also include a preferential admission for any higher studies that the candidate intends to do abroad.

The college has an exclusive tie up with a nationalized bank for educational loan facilities. Those opting for a loan will have to submit the relevant documents for availing the pre approved loan facility.
The institute offers scholarships for deserving students. These include full waiver and partial waiver (50%) of tuition fees for the topper in the university examinations.
